Beyond Interface Culture
The whole premise of panarchy is that technology matters because it changes our culture, both materially and ideationally. Steven Johnson even wrote a book called Interface Culture, and Jeff Han thinks his work is moving us "beyond" the interface.
Whether that is true or not, I really really want one of these:
Jeff Han is a research scientist for New York University's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. Here, he demonstratesââ?¬â?for the first time publiclyââ?¬â?his intuitive, "interface-free," touch-driven computer screen, which can be manipulated intuitively with the fingertips, and responds to varying levels of pressure.
